Tamps Bay Buccaneers Baby ClothesWhy Was Super Bowl XXXVII called "the Pirate Bowl"?
Because the two teams that played both had pirates as mascots. The teams that played were the Oakland Raiders and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The fans for both teams came out in droves, but the stands that day seemed to be packed with fans that wore Tampa Bay Buccaneers toddler clothes when they were young.
Of course there was plenty of Oakland Raiders merchandise too, it just seemed like a lot more kids were running around in Tampa Bay Buccaneers kids hats and jerseys than the other team. Maybe it was because the Bucs surprised everyone that season and there were a lot of people rooting for the underdog.
See, what happened that season is a man named John Gruden took over a team that had done well in the past, but always failed when the playoffs happened. Another reason people were rooting for the team as the fact that Gruden was not the first choice to lead the team.
When Gruden took over the team people expected him to fail. But he knew he could win and help sell tons of Tampa Bay Buccaneers baby clothes to loving fans. |
